One of my favourite moments was when Rose McIver’s character, Lindsey, was rifling through George Harvey’s house. So from just a film viewers perspective, I rather liked this film. Through the voice of a precocious teenage girl, Susie relates the awful events of her death and builds out of her family's grief a hopeful and joyful story. Though having not read the book I obviously can’t compare. This is the tale of family, memory, love, and living told by 14-year-old Susie Salmon, who is already in heaven. I understand that there was a lot of backlash against this film when it was released as it isn’t a patch on the book. Making films about the afterlife can be tricky. The dream sequences of that space between Earth and heaven were beautiful. Though, seriously, he looks like what a psycho killer would look like so why not suspect him more in the beginning!
